With the vision of "Internationalize local talents, and localize international talents," our bilingual education focuses on four core values: Domain Knowledge, Critical Thinking, Global Perspective, and Effective Communication. We empower our students to excel in the professional courses, workshops, and activities corresponding to the four core values, enhancing their professional competence, logical thinking, innovative breakthroughs, and international competitiveness. Under the cultivation of a bilingual learning environment, we encourage students to go on the international stage, and attract foreign talents to our campus, making the vision "glocalization" a reality. The highlights of the achievements related to these four core values are briefly summarized in the table below: 

        To effectively implement the bilingual program, we have established support and incentive systems from three major perspectives: the faculty, the students, and the campus. The following summarizes the highlights of the support and promotion strategies for each of these three aspects.

＜ For Teachers ＞

• Higher Education Professional Training Program
  • To encourage teacher development, our college actively collaborates with the NYCU Center of Higher Education Accreditation for Teaching (HEAT) and NCKU Center for Higher Education EMI Professional Development (EMI PD), providing proactive training courses in higher education teaching skills and EMI professional development. We design and develop more EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and ESP (English for Specific Purposes) courses in the biomedical field. Currently, four teachers in our college have already received the certificate of HEA Fellowship; four teachers have completed training of NCKU EMI PD Center; and four other teachers will participate in Oxford EMI training soon.
• Classroom Observation System
  • Through video recording, we've observed 15 EMI courses and analyzed them to identify key factors of success in class, which allows us to provide feedback and address teacher and student needs.
• EMI TA Training
  • During this semester, 13 EMI TAs are selected to assist teachers in 10 EMI courses. We design 6-Hours TA training content, monitor their progress throughout the semester, and provide support to further strengthen the EMI TA system.

＜ For Students＞

• EAP, ESP Courses
  • In addition to the EAP courses offered by faculty members within the college, we also collaborate with the Language Learning and Writing Center and Research Center and the General Education Center to provide a variety of English courses to assist students in their learning within EMI courses. Currently, our university offers over 20 EAP courses and over 29 ESP courses. In the second phase of the project, we will also collaborate with language teachers both on and off campus to design courses and materials, providing tailored ESP courses suitable for students in the biomedical technology and healthcare fields.
• Incentive to Student English Activities
  • We encourage students to integrate English into their daily lives by organizing their own bilingual activities. To date, 7 sessions including ceremonies, department nights, and gift exchanges have been held by various student group.。
• EMI Learning Handbook "Unboxing EMI Courses: Your Guidebook"
  • To generate this learning handbook, we gather 11 foreign and local TAs to discuss weekly on current status of bilingual learning on campus, and to brainstorm solutions to student learning problems.

＜ On Campus＞

• Multi-channel Information Release
  • In addition to the college's official website, we utilize LINE, a commonly used platform among students, as a channel for information dissemination. We send out point-based rewards for taking EMI courses and participating in bilingual activities. Currently, we have over 300 students following our LINE account.
• Reward Card for Taking EMI Courses and Participating in Activities and Workshops
  • Utilizing the reward card feature available on the LINE platform, students accumulate points by participating in bilingual activities, workshops, EMI courses, and English competitions. These points can be redeemed for surprise gifts from capsule vending machines, enhancing the fun and motivation for participation.
• Campus English Podcast: "Wassup NYCU"
  • Two students host this campus English podcast, Wassup NYCU, in which they chat about campus life in English, including exchange abroad, unpacking student's bags, and campus interviews, etc.
• English Oral Presentation in Academic Seminars
  • Through the collaborative effort between our college and the Office of Research and Development, we encourage our students to rise to the international stage, and train them to present their research results in an in-depth and precise manner within a limited time.
