MOE Bilingual Learning Project for Higher Education Institutions Stage One
Summary of Achievements in the 2022-2023 Academic Year
Our university has initiated a comprehensive bilingual promotion program with three core objectives: (1) Optimization of Curriculum Development, (2) Internationalization of Teacher-Student Performance, and (3) Inclusive Promotion of Bilingualism. These objectives aim to foster a bilingual campus environment and enhance the capabilities of faculty and students through a holistic approach to bilingual education. Significant milestones have been achieved in the implementation during the 2022-2023 academic year, as follows:
1. Establishment of Bilingual Teaching Environment: Our university has successfully established a bilingual teaching environment integrating both hardware and software components, providing students and faculty with immersive bilingual learning experiences.
2. Progressive Coordination between Teaching and Administrative Units: Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability, we have ensured cohesive efforts in promoting bilingualism through progressive and flexible coordination between teaching and administrative units.
3. Structured Training for Bilingual Professionals: We have implemented a structured training system for bilingual professional teachers and teaching assistants (TAs), enhancing their proficiency in bilingual education methodologies and ensuring high-quality bilingual instruction.
4. Alignment of EMI Courses with Career Trajectories: We have made efforts to align EMI bilingual courses with career trajectories, facilitating mutual bilingual proficiency development among students and preparing them for future professional endeavors.
5. Establishment of External Partnerships and Support Framework: We have established external partnerships with international sister schools and created an EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) support framework, enhancing resources and support for our bilingual education program.
6. Establishment of the Bilingual Education Center: The establishment of Bilingual Education Center under College of General Education underscores our commitment to nurturing high-level bilingual talents and providing specialized bilingual education excellence for the industry.
7. Promotion of Pre-EMI Courses: Ten Pre-EMI courses were offered across academic faculties, engaging 350 students in experimental learning experiences aimed at reducing English language learning anxiety and enhancing learning outcomes.
8. ESP Professional English Lectures and Bilingual Teacher Communities: We have promoted bilingual activities across different colleges, including professional English lectures and the establishment of bilingual teacher communities, to enrich the bilingual learning experience for teachers and students.
9. Enhancement of Bilingual Student Clubs: Optimization of bilingual student club has strengthened connections between local and foreign students, fostering bilingual leadership skills and offering diverse bilingual activities to enrich student engagement.
10. International Integration and Digital Technology-Assisted Teaching: We have planned and optimized bilingual AR/VR interactive software, and established the "APEC International Conference Simulation Classroom" and related digital tools, providing students with innovative and immersive bilingual learning experiences consistent with global standards.
These highlights signify our university's commitment to fostering bilingualism, enhancing educational quality, and preparing students for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
