In response to global trends and the Ministry of Education’s Bilingual Education Plan, NTUB focuses on cultivating globally competitive talents and enhancing its international presence.
Highlights of the 2023 The Program on Bilingual Education for Students
- From the Course side
- Offered 35 EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) courses.
- Integrated speaking and writing tasks in first-year English courses, requiring students to complete assignments on the MyET platform and topic-based writing.
- Conducted mid- and end-term online surveys to evaluate EMI teaching effectiveness.
- From the Student side
- Organized 7 language-learning lectures and 12 English competitions.
- Provided 4 language certificate courses and writing/speaking consultations for 66 students.
- Formed 20 English-speaking groups with international exchange students, culminating in a presentation event.
- From the Teacher side
- Established an EMI Faculty Development Community, hosting workshops, cross-university forums, and classroom observations.
- Trained 15 EMI teaching assistants to support faculty and enhance their own English and teaching skills.
- From the Learning Resource side
- Enabled 484 students to use MyET speaking software and extended subscriptions to the Learner+ vocabulary platform for flexible learning.
- Procured English DVDs to support self-learning.
- Bilingual Campus Initiatives:
- Established the Bilingual Learning Promotion Committee, including external experts, to evaluate and guide bilingual policies.
- Participated in AACSB accreditation, submitting a revised Initial Self-Evaluation Report in November 2023.
NTUB plans to expand EMI offerings through the International Marketing College and refine strategies to create a fully bilingual campus, ensuring students gain the skills needed for global competitiveness.
