Abstract

Features of the Bilingual Education Program at Shih Chien University

Shih Chien University aspires to be a global leader in living sciences through the BEST Program (Bilingual Education for Students in College), supported by the Ministry of Education. The program focuses on developing bilingual teachers, fostering international communication, and organizing empowerment events for educators and students. Directed by the Vice President for International Affairs, the program coordinates with partner institutions to draft a bilingual teaching strategy. It encourages teachers to improve their English Medium Instruction (EMI) capabilities and offers incentives for departments to provide EMI courses. Additionally, it aims to strengthen students’ basic English skills and interest in taking EMI courses. Collaborative projects include co-designing EMI courses with partner universities for mutual learning.
