Abstract

This project focused on enhancing the quality of EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) teaching through systematic faculty development, the promotion of students’ English learning, and the integration of teaching resources, thereby continuously strengthening the university’s bilingual education initiatives. During the implementation period, a total of five English-learning promotion activities, four faculty development workshops, nine faculty community meetings, three EMI Teaching Assistant (TA) training sessions, six International Artist Gatherings, and two International Day events were organized. Through these diverse activities, the project fostered a bilingual learning environment and international exchange opportunities on campus, increasing both participation and opportunities for English use among faculty and students.

First, in collaboration with external resource centers, faculty development workshops were conducted with a focus on the application of generative AI in teaching. These workshops enhanced instructional innovation and improved student learning outcomes. Second, the training emphasized AI literacy and ethics, which effectively strengthened students’ language production and academic performance. Third, through EMI TA training sessions and collaborative support mechanisms, a structured partnership between instructors and teaching assistants was established to provide comprehensive support for students’ learning processes. In addition, faculty communities facilitated the exchange of teaching experiences and promoted the development of EMI teaching materials and pedagogical approaches, instructional reflection, and interdisciplinary collaboration, further enhancing classroom interaction and student engagement. Furthermore, activities such as the International Artist Gatherings and International Day events promoted interaction between university members and international participants, broadening global perspectives and strengthening intercultural communication skills.

Overall, the project successfully enhanced faculty members’ capabilities in applying AI technologies and EMI teaching strategies, strengthened the professional competencies of teaching assistants, and fostered a supportive bilingual learning environment. Through diverse international exchange opportunities and English-learning promotion activities, the project effectively increased students’ learning motivation, English proficiency, and global mobility. These achievements have further advanced the effectiveness of bilingual education implementation and contributed to the overall improvement of teaching quality at the university.
