Tatung University Best Program Highlights (Academic Year 2024–25)

The University's bilingual education policy originates from the Tatung University 2026+ Long-term Development Plan and aims to enhance students' English proficiency through faculty development, English-medium teaching, self-directed language learning, and participation in English proficiency assessments.  By 2030, Tatung University aims to develop graduates with bilingual communication skills and global mobility competencies while becoming an internationally friendly campus for both faculty and students.

I.Teachers and Teaching

1. EMI Teachers' Community of Practices: Established to foster cross-institutional collaboration, and hosted EMI professional development workshops.
2. Training Programs: 21 teachers completed Cambridge Certificate in EMI Skills; 5  trained with Oxford EMI Training; 2 joined EMI PD Center (Humanities & Arts pathway). 
3. Incentives: Revised performance evaluation weighting, increased EMI teaching hour subsidies, introduced new “Outstanding EMI Teaching Award”, and provided EMI teaching bonuses. 
4. Supporting policy: Assigned 22 teaching assistants to EMI courses. 
5. Online Development Tools: Provided 36 Speak AI accounts and 56 Grammarly accounts.

II. Students and Learning

1. Competitions: Organized English contests to enhance all four English comprehensions. 
2. Online Self-learning resources: EasyTest, MyET, and 50 TutorABC speaking accounts. 
3. Incentives: Recognition of EMI certificates as graduation requirements; EMI course enrollment rewards.

III. Curriculum

1. EGP: Integrated ESP elements for better EMI transition. 
2. EAP & ESP Courses: Expanded both variety and number of courses. 
3. EMI courses: 75 EMI professional courses offered during 2024–2025. 
4. Self-development Courses: TOEIC preparation courses, English-speaking workshops, international workshops with foreign instructors. 
5. Academic Events: Organized EMI lectures and thematic talks.

IV. Resource Sharing and Collaboration

1. Domestic: Member of the U9+ Alliance for cross-university course selection and resource sharing. Participated in the Taiwan AI Curriculum Alliance, offering EMI cross-institutional courses (e.g., Machine Learning, Data Mining, Deep Learning) taught by NTU, NTHU, and NYCU professors. 
2. International: Collaborated with partner universities on language camps, workshops, and joint teaching. For example, Prof. Georg Hauer (Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences) – Global Business Case Studies；Prof. Eric Koenig (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg) – International Business Communication.

VI. Evaluation and Monitoring

• Assessment instruments: Key Performance Indicators, student learning surveys, and teacher self-evaluation forms. 
• Meetings: Consultation Meetings held each semester with deans , executive staff and program director to review progress, budget, and improvement plans.
• Continuous Feedback: Data and meeting records are shared across units to ensure adjustments and alignment with policy goals.
