Chang Gung University-College of Management

Abstract

Since 2021, Chang Gung University (CGU) has implemented the Ministry of Education's Bilingual Education for Students in Colleges and Universities initiative. The College of Management leads the effort, designated a Key Cultivation College in 2023 and elevated in 2024 as a national key college in Social Sciences. CGU has developed a bilingual model combining management expertise with cross-college collaboration.

Key Achievements

   1.Governance & Strategy

  • Established the Bilingual Promotion Committee aligned with the EMI Resource Center.
  • Expanded international partnerships (125 →163) and dual-degree enrollment (+153%, 15 →38).
  • International student population grew 60% (194 →312).

   2.Faculty & Teaching

  • 11 faculty members obtained international EMI certification.
  • 278 EMI courses are offered university-wide, and 48 are offered by the College of Management in finance, marketing, international business, and IT.
  • EMI quality assurance integrated with AACSB's Assurance of Learning and course observation.

   3.Students & Learning

  • Incentives such as buddy programs, English study groups, and awards expanded university-wide.
  • 200+ students benefited from English test support; scores improved steadily.
  • Cross-cultural learning strengthened via buddy programs, presentation competitions, Go International events, and club activities.

Conclusion & Outlook

CGU's bilingual initiative has achieved robust governance, strong faculty capacity, active student engagement, and enhanced internationalization. Next steps include:

  • Expanding dual-degree programs and international industry collaboration,
  • Strengthening EMI teacher communities and cross-college integration,
  • Advancing student learning management to cultivate globally competitive management professionals.
