BEST Program at NTHU, 2024-2025: Leading with Innovation 

Since being designated by the MOE as a Key Cultivation University in 2023, NTHU has positioned bilingual education as a core driver of academic innovation and global competitiveness. Guided by the University’s motto, “Continuous Self Improvement and Virtue”, NTHU has delivered landmark achievements in 2024-2025: 

• Robust Implementation: With a 93% budget execution rate and 1,006 EMI courses across undergraduate and graduate programs. The expansion of both course quantity and disciplinary diversity demonstrates NTHU’s capacity to scale EMI strategically and sustainably. 
• Excellence in Teaching Quality: EMI course satisfaction improved, and more than half of the Outstanding Teaching Awards were received by EMI instructors, highlighting NTHU’s commitment to recognizing high-quality bilingual teaching. 
• Pioneering Faculty Development Models: Innovative initiatives such as the EMI Faculty Professional Development Program and EMI Mentoring Program created a systematic pathway for continuous improvement. Conference and training participation reached 910 faculty and teaching assistants, establishing a national model for professional development in EMI. 
• Comprehensive Student Support: Expanded access to digital platforms, one-on-one consultations, small English classes, and EMI activities fostered a dynamic bilingual learning environment. Programs such as 3MT, English Corners and the Brownbag Series engaged students actively in English learning. 

As a leading research university, NTHU will continue to lead Taiwan’s bilingual higher education by scaling discipline-specific EMI pathways, expanding international collaboration and mobility, and applying data-driven evaluation to sustain teaching quality and student achievement. Through these initiatives, NTHU reaffirms its role as a national leader and innovator in bilingual education, advancing Taiwan’s higher education on the global stage.
