Taipei Medical University (TMU) has integrated bilingual education into its ten-year development plan since 2021, aiming to cultivate biomedical professionals with global vision and competitiveness. In the 2024/25 academic year, TMU achieved remarkable progress in curriculum development, faculty empowerment, and international engagement.

TMU created a comprehensive bilingual environment supported by an AI-adaptive English learning platform, regular language assessments, and diverse EGP/EAP/ESP courses such as academic writing, medical English, and oral communication. Daily engLive activities, English Clinic consultations, and AR-based digital learning tools enhanced student motivation and improved language proficiency.

Faculty development was strengthened with 82 teachers trained in global EMI programs, including Oxford EMI certification. A three-stage incentive scheme (preparation, teaching, continuation) and quality assurance mechanisms ensured high standards, with average teacher satisfaction reaching 4.59/5.0. The College of Medical Science and Technology reached 100% EMI teaching participation, demonstrating institutional commitment.

International cooperation further expanded TMU’s impact. The School of Dentistry co-taught with McGill University and offered overseas internships, while the College of Medical Science and Technology and other colleges partnered with leading universities across the US, Europe, and Asia to deliver joint courses, dual-degree programs, and English micro-courses. These initiatives significantly enhanced students’cross-cultural communication skills and international mobility.

Overall, TMU’s bilingual program in the 113 academic year successfully strengthened curriculum capacity, faculty training, student learning outcomes, and global collaboration. TMU will continue advancing bilingual education to prepare students as globally competitive biomedical professionals.
