The primary objective of this project is to enhance EMI provision and foster a more international environment. Specific strategies for teaching, learning, curriculum planning, quality assurance, and international cooperation have been developed and are being implemented. Soochow University (SU) integrates resources and offers scholarships and subsidies to enhance students' English proficiency and international competitiveness. The SU Bilingual Education Resource Center collaborates with the School of Business (SOB) Bilingual Education Promotion Office to optimize the bilingual learning environment and ensure effective EMI support for both teachers and students. The highlights of 2024-2025 EMI Enhancement Plan include:

• Promoting Cross-Disciplinary EMI Teaching Features

In accordance with policy planning, the program’s scope has been expanded from a single college to cover the social sciences discipline group. Building upon the foundation established in the School of Business, the School of Law has now been included in program operations. By integrating teaching and administrative resources across these units, the University has amplified the overall impact of the bilingual education program.

In total, during the 2024–2025 academic year, the Centers hosted or co-hosted 22 EMI-related events, including workshops, lectures, and faculty teaching community activities. These events emphasized cross-disciplinary applications of EMI and the sharing of teaching techniques. They were delivered in both in-person and online formats, featuring both internal and external speakers, as well as international experts. Topics spanned a wide range of professional fields, such as AI technology applications, arts and humanities, and international medical cooperation.

• Enhancing Students’ English Proficiency and Motivation to Enroll in EMI Courses:

Students’ English proficiency and participation in EMI courses demonstrated significant improvement. At the same time, the proportion of students enrolled in EMI courses continued to rise, reflecting stronger acceptance and engagement, which were closely tied to the expansion of ESP/EAP courses.
