Abstract

Feng Chia University uses the International School of Technology and Management (ISTM) as the main axis of development to drive and popularize the development of the EMI program in all colleges of the university. The EMI Resource Center is set up as a dedicated organization to plan and promote the program, and to strengthen the cooperation between the Office of Academic Affairs, the Foreign Language Center, the Office of International Affairs, and the beacon bilingual college. To help improve teachers' English teaching ability and cultivate students into bilingual professionals, the BEST Program of the ISTM is positioned as a "global talent circulation hub" to shape the integration of teaching resources and create a bilingual learning environment for international cooperation.

Student Learning and Development

We will continue to expand our international exchange partners to create an international learning environment and strengthen students' expression skills and enhance their potential through different language training programs and English skills orientation courses.

  • To cooperate with Monash University in Australia to offer a 2+2 dual degree program in the field of information engineering to create an international learning environment.
  • EMI TA training program to implement "in-class assistance and out-of-class counseling". 
  • PYP (Preparatory Year English Language Programme) and Mix-Module to enhance students' communication and interaction to connect with the international community.
  • Diversified English skills enhancement measures for students’ English potential stimulation. (ISTM Academic English Learning Camp, One-Day English Leadership Camp, IELTS Intensive Course, Academic Writing Intensive Counseling Course, English Technology Guided Reading Course, C-Programming Series Enrichment Course , which is part of the Programming Fundamentals Course, Campus-wide English-related Competitions).

Based on the successful cooperation with renowned overseas universities, the International School of Technology and Management continues to discuss cooperation opportunities with the world's top 100 universities to improve the quality of education and cultivate talents in the fields of business, and information and electrical engineering; strengthen the bilateral faculty semester exchange program with overseas partner universities to optimize faculty’s EMI capabilities; increase students' communication and interaction through the PYP and Mix-Module courses. We also provide international exchange students to come to Taiwan for long- and short-term study, internship, mentoring, and research activities. Through these measures, ISTM hopes to enhance students' international perspectives and cultivate their professional bilingual talents.
