National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University -

Abstract

“Internationalizing local talents and localizing international talents” is our strategy of Bilingual Education Program in National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU). We aim to create a bilingual learning environment, to improve the English teaching ability of teachers, and to cultivate students to effectively integrate their professional knowledge and skills with the four English skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The College of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering is committed to promoting bilingual courses and activities. First of all, we implement policies to promote EMI courses with an incentive system; moreover, we provide students and faculty with various resources such as workshops and individual consultations to enable them to present their academic reports in class. In addition, we hold an English presentation competition, the NYCU Talk, to encourage students to present their academic expertise. In NYCU Talk, the participants can not only experience the fun of the competitions, but also learn about different professional fields by the virtue of the variety of backgrounds of all the participants, which is one key feature of the College of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering. In the future, we will continue to organize activities, workshops, competitions, and even domestic and international industry internship opportunities in different fields.
