Abstract

College of Management (CM) in Yuan Ze University encourages our students and professors to actively participate in the program on bilingual education, and to improve English teaching motivation and students’ English proficiency. The goal is to provide more classes in English, and not only to create an English learning environment but also cultivate students’ globalization competitiveness.

Award and allowance for EMI teachers

We design the following incentive mechanisms and activities to improve the English proficiency of the teachers and raise the willingness of new EMI classes opening.

1.Encourage teachers to offer EMI courses:

Teachers who provide the EMI courses or EMI online courses can apply teaching allowances.

2.Proficiency for teachers:

In order to improve the English proficiency of the teachers, we buy Cambridge EMI online training courses for teachers. In addition, teacher can also apply for additional advanced studies.

3.Increase teaching assistants for teacher who has EMI courses.

4.Supply incentive award for EMI teacher who provide innovative teaching methodologies.

5.Encourage teachers to participate in relevant communities, and provide EMI teacher community allowance.

6.Regular teacher workshops:

Hold regular workshops on the tpoics: Relevant EMI Studies, EMI teaching methologies, teachers' experience sharing or disscussion in EMI teaching.

EMI Co-teacher Program

We designe Co-teahcer program in CM. Through the classes lectured by foreign co-teachers of our master and PhD student, we shorten the distance between foreign and domestic students, and attract domestic students' attention in class. We create a bilingual learning environment for all students in CM.

To improve students’ English proficiency and increase their international competitiveness, and to raise the motivation on EMI, we design the following mechanisms and award:

Bilingual Activities for Students

Regularly organize various English activities to create an all-English living and learning environment, so that students can naturally integrate into all activities conducted in English. The types of activities are as follows:
