Abstract

I. The educational purpose of Wenzao has followed the teaching of St. Angela and adopted the mission of Catholic colleges and universities. Since the establishment of the school, the most important task and mission is to promote foreign language education. "College of New Media and Management" is a professional-oriented college. Students of the college with a high-quality foreign language learning environment in Wenzao have a more complete learning environment and opportunities than other universities. At the same time, it also allows the college to achieve the goal of bilingual learning. The college includes the Digital Content Application and Management Department, Communication Arts Department (including Master’s Program of Creative Arts Industries), and Department of International Business Administration. The college strengthens the elements of digital and communication art, and combines them with the elements of international marketing, also integrating the necessity and connectivity of international. The College of New Media and Management set new media and International marketing as the core, and truly meets the needs of talented people with new media and international communication in the national industry. 

II. The characteristics of supporting teachers 

1. Each department of the college has set up an EMI BEST Program task force to review the EMI courses offered by each department. In the beginning of the semester, the departments will invite external expert to review the teaching content and teaching methods of EMI courses to improve the teaching quality of EMI courses. At the end of the semester, each department and an external expert will examine the analyzed results of the questionnaire survey of students and teachers of each EMI course. The results will also be used as a reference and improvement basis for further EMI courses for teachers.

2. In order to encourage students to take EMI courses and to set up EMI courses successfully, the college set regulation for each EMI course that needs 8 students as the minimum to start the course. Students who want to take the EMI course can successfully study EMI courses. The college also ensures that each department offers more than 20 credits of EMI courses every year. 

3. The college develops EMI teacher training actively for advanced EMI teaching experiences through the arrangement of the Regional Center for Bilingual Education and the Center for Faculty Development. Teachers will be subsidized for participating in EMI teacher training and development, also teachers will be subsidized for obtaining English certification to improve EMI teachers in EMI courses. 100% of our teachers who teach EMI courses have obtained foreign degrees and participated in EMI teacher training.

4. The college encourages teachers actively to offer EMI courses. In addition to rewards for teachers offered EMI courses, each EMI course invites industry scholars to develop EMI courses together and conducts remedial teaching. Each EMI course has a teaching assistant(TA). They will assist teachers and students in EMI courses.

5. The college plans to have an EMI practical teaching community. The community includes teachers who are interested in EMI planning and EMI teachers. There were four gatherings in the 110th academic year. EMI teachers share the teaching experiences of the EMI courses, which is a great help for new EMI teachers. 

III. Supporting the characteristics of students 

1. To advance Students' English learning interest and English communication atmosphere are the main targets. Our college promotes English learning clubs. Teachers guide students from each department to conduct self-directed learning through online English learning materials. There were 63% of students in the college participated in English learning clubs. In addition, each department invites international students recommended by the Office of International and Cross-strait Cooperation of the school to participate in English learning clubs, or invite international students to share cross-culturally in class meetings and talk with students in groups. International students sharing in English learning clubs or the interaction between international and domestic students in EMI courses will advance students' interest in developing toward international action in the future.

2. The college held a TOEIC tutoring course on the weekend. The course would focus on enhancing students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities through small-group class teaching and assisting. Also, the college subsidized students for the registration fee for the TOEIC certificate examination

3 The college provides students who study EMI courses with the opportunity to obtain professional certificates mainly in English. Students through the process of obtaining the certificate to experience expressing professional knowledge in English. Professional certificates include Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals, ICDL Profile Certificate, Adobe Illustrator, and SSE Adobe Photoshop CC. There are 68 students who participated in the tests. 

4. The college encourages students to reach the B2 level in the English certificate by issuing incentives, and fully subsidizes the credit fees for students studying off-campus and foreign EMI courses (Coursera), and issues incentives to those who complete the EMI courses and pass the grades students to enhance the atmosphere for implementing the BEST program.
